The Fun Spot

Your Excitement Destination

Located just south of Lake George in Queensbury, The Fun Spot has been creating fun-filled memories for over 30 years. This is family fun at its best, in a safe, clean, well supervised environment. Whether you're looking for something exciting and different to do with your children, a great place to host a birthday party, or you're seeking childcare or summer camp, The Fun Spot has it all!

Go-Karts

The Fun Spot has the most uniquely designed go kart track in the Lake George area! This is the only track with a bridge and an underpass. In the summer, they change directions on the course so you can try out two different racing experiences. Everyone has a different opinion on which one is better - you'll have to try it for yourself.

Mini Golf

Gold Rush Adventure Golf at The Fun Spot consists of 18 holes with a mining theme. The heavily landscaped course takes you on a mini golf journey with two caves and five waterfalls, all connected by streams and ponds. There's a koi pond, a wobbly bridge, a water tower, and more, including an unexpected challenge at the 18th hole!

Round out your mini golf adventures with a plinko game in the clubhouse where everyone can drop their golf ball in for a chance to win free admission to any of The Fun Spot's attractions. The mining theme continues in the clubhouse with a chance to pan for gold (pyrite) and other gems.

Laser Tag

Are you ready for a multilevel laser tag experience? The LED arena at The Fun Spot uses 12 different power chips and the latest technology to provide an incredible laser tag adventure. At the end, you'll get your own personal score card to prove to your friends you "owned" them during the game.

Ninja Challenge

Get ready to test your ninja skills at the Ninja Challenge with nine different elements in this new course. A practice time is allowed along with timed runs to see who can claim the title of the fastest ninja of the day.

Roller Skating

Inside the facility you'll find a roller skating rink where everyone can skate to the hottest music - skaters are even able to watch videos of their favorite music on three huge screens! Top 40 songs are played during public sessions with special effect lighting. Skates and blades are available for rent.

You'll also find pizza, burgers, hot dogs, and more meals and snacks in the snack shack along with the newest video and redemption games in the arcade.

Playground

Kids will stay entertained for hours at the 1500-square-foot indoor playground. This is a multi-level attraction with 12 different interactive activities. Guests will make their way through a Challenge Path, Dragon's Lair, Elastic Tunnel, Wavy Web Crawl, Cave Climb, and more.

There are also two Kangaroo rooms for jumping play, Rodeo Riders, two Pull Swings, a Zip Line, and of course, the Magic Carpet.

Birthdays

Let The Fun Spot staff do all the work while you have all the fun! What place could be better for a child's birthday party with all of these great attractions right at your fingertips? A Party Coordinator will help organize the entire event for you and have your party room set up before your arrival time.

Glow Birthday parties are now available, where all the table decorations glow under the black lights while laser lights dance around the room.

Daycare & Preschool

The Fun Spot has a full daycare and pre-kindergarten program, and they're licensed with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.

The daycare program is for ages 18 months to five years old and it's combined with an academic curriculum to better prepare for kindergarten. The kids will learn basic skills of language, math, reading, writing, and music. The academic schedule is combined with a healthy amount of physical activity to help develop coordination.

This is truly a unique daycare and preschool program you can't find anywhere else!

Summer Camp

While some camps go to The Fun Spot for a field trip, your kids can spend the entire day there if you enroll in their summer camp! The Fun Spot summer campers also go on field trips, however, to places like Howe Caverns, Moreau Lake State Park, and more.

Summer campers participate in structured indoor and outdoor activities in addition to enjoying The Fun Spot attractions. They spend as much time outside as they can, with water play included with a "kiddie carwash," a slip-n-slide, and more.

Spots for summer camp always fill up quickly, so be sure to hurry to reserve your child's spot!

After School

After school services are also offered, for children ages 5 to 12. The program runs until 5:45pm on most schools days, and a full day program is available on school holidays and snow days for an additional fee.

Fun Spot America Theme Parks

Amusement park in Orlando, Florida

Fun Spot America Theme Parks is a group of amusement parks. Since 1979, the group has owned and operated a number of small amusement parks over the years and currently has three locations in Orlando, Florida, Kissimmee, Florida, and Fayetteville, Georgia.

History[edit]

Early parks[edit]

Fun Spot America Theme Parks began in 1979 under the name Fun N Wheels near the I-Drive tourist corridor in Orlando, Florida. This 3 acre park near Wet 'n Wild Orlando, with no frontage on the main roads, had an arcade, three go-kart tracks, a miniature golf course, bumper cars and boats, Raging Riptide (a 40 foot high water slide) and a 55-foot Ferris wheel. This park became the world's first themed action park, premiering new types of rides such as the riptide slide manufactured by New Wave Rides. In 1988 a second Fun N Wheels location was opened in Kissimmee next to the regional mall. Both locations were sold in 1988 to Pleasurama USA, who also owned Hard Rock Café at the time, with the expectation of expanding the concept to malls region wide. This however did not occur.[1][2][3][4][5]

In 1990 Fun Spot Amusement Park was opened in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Two years later a second park was opened in Virginia Beach, Virginia. These parks were operated until 1998.[1][3][6]

1997–present[edit]

The Original Area of what was Fun Spot Action Park, as seen in 2016

Fun Spot moved back to Orlando in 1997 and opened as Fun Spot Action Park (later named Fun Spot America – Orlando) near the original Fun N Wheels location on I-Drive. The $4 million, 4.7-acre (1.9 ha) park opened on December 24 featuring their signature, patented design of multi-level go-kart tracks, featuring three levels. The park also included a 102-foot-tall (31 m) Ferris wheel and a two-story video arcade among other attractions.[1][3][6]

In 2004, Fun Spot purchased the site of the world's tallest Skycoaster located in Kissimmee, adjacent to the Old Town entertainment and shopping complex. The site was purchased from Bill Kitchen, the inventor of the Skycoaster and owner of Skyventure. The site also included a recently opened G-Force dragster ride. Fun Spot developed the 9 acres around the skycoaster into another amusement park call Fun Spot USA in 2007 (now Fun Spot America - Kissimmee). They added 2 multi-level go-kart tracks, family/thrill rides and an arcade. Summer of 2011 saw the arrival of Fun Spot's first major roller coaster, the Power Trip Coaster at the Kissimmee park (now Rockstar Coaster). The Wild Mouse roller coaster, manufactured by Zamperla, was relocated from Cypress Gardens, where it was known as Galaxy Spin, when Cypress Gardens closed and became Legoland Florida.[1][3][7][8][9][10]

The 10-acre expansion to the renamed Fun Spot America Orlando park

In 2010 Fun Spot purchased an additional 10 acres of vacant land next to their Orlando location. 2011 was spent researching nearly 30 parks and 50 rollercoasters across the country planning a major expansion of the park. Late in 2011, they meet with three professional roller-coaster salesmen. Ground was broken in 2012 for the expansion that tripled the size of Fun Spot Action Park, turning it into Fun Spot America - Orlando. $25 million was spent on two new roller coasters, the world's second tallest Skycoaster (second only to their Kissimmee location), and numerous other attractions. The two coasters are the woodenout and back roller coaster White Lightning, and the steel Suspended Family CoasterFreedom Flyer. The skycoaster came from MGM Grand Adventures in Las Vegas, where it had been disassembled in storage for 8 years. It is now the centerpiece of the park. Additional improvements include three new thrill rides, new multi-level go-kart track new food court, new ticket booth, additional parking and rest rooms. A grand re-opening was held on June 8, 2013, celebrating the tripling of size of the park, and the park's 15th anniversary.[3][11][12]

Gator Spot Entrance at Fun Spot America Orlando

Fun Spot, in collaboration with Gatorland, opened Gator Spot at the Orlando park on May 11, 2015. The $1 million attraction allows Gatorland to extend their brand to the I-Drive tourist area, with visitors able to hold, take photos with, and feed alligators. The star of the attraction is a leucistic alligator named Bouya, a white gator with blue eyes.[13]

In 2017, Fun Spot America purchased an existing Fun Junction USA park outside of Atlanta in Fayetteville, Georgia.[14]
