Monitor Brackets From Sloan Express
AgTalk Home

Southwest IowaOk I am just getting started in the world of GPS and shutoffs. Only thing is I dont have a newer tractor like the pictures below. Will hopefully be running an Ag Leader Versa with row command in my planting tractor which is a 4650 John Deere. Anybody got any pictures of an older tractor on how and where to mount the monitors?

Southwest IowaI meant Seed Command. Was researching RowFlow when I typed this and got them mixed up. Sorry!!

20 Miles West of Indianapolis IndianaI wont have pics till closer to planting season, but i run a 20/20 monitor and the old kinze monitor both for my dad. There's room to mount it in the front right corner. I made a flat shelf like part and cut it at an angle to march the cab corner. Then i removed the ash tray and mounted the control box for the kinze there with a magnet.

South East IllinoisOn our 4430 I mounted a Raven spray monitor using the window latch pivots. I used some 2x3/8 flat. I came down from the pivot bolts and then ran a piece cross ways and welded it all together. It seems to be solid enough to hold it good and solid. I can drill holes whevere they are needed and by takeing out two bolts, it can be removed.
I do not have pictures. I tried posting a drawing. I sent it to your e-mail.
Hope this helps give you an idea.

Dallas Center IA 515-720-2463The picture is of my White 2-135 in corn planting mode.
I also have a Deere 4630 set up pretty much the same way.

A piece of 1-1/4" channel iron runs from the right front cab post to the right rear cab post.
Mounted by drilling and tapping a hole for a 3/8" bolt in each post. I know you are not suppose to drill on ROPS iron, but I don't care about one little hole.

Lots of holes in that channel iron to mount stuff.

In the pic - Top left - Rawson Control control box

Top right - Planter monitor

To the left under the channel iron - Ag Leader Edge. In this 2012 pic it is just making a map. But for 2013 the Edge has been replaced by a Ag Leader Versa, and it will be running the Auto-Steer. I plan to use auto-steer 100% of the time, that is after the first pass along the edge of the field.
The GPS display is Ram Mounted to the channel.

Under the channel to the right, under the planter monitor - Control box for planter folding.

To the right of the planter control box is a Rawson deal that give GPS speed to the Rawson Control and my planter monitor.

There is a John Deere Power Strip at the bottom of the window. The Ag Leader display is wired to the battery. Everything else gets it's power off of the Power Strip.

For spraying - Rawson box, planter monitor and planter fold box all come out. GPS display stays.
The Spray Controller goes where the Rawson box was, upper left.

To the right I mount a foam marker control. No foam marker, but I use the control box for 12 volt power to the always hot wire to the sprayer ball valves, also the ground.

The rest of the year other than planting and spraying, just the GPS display in place.

The Deere 4630 is set up pretty much the same way. Both planting and spraying.
Can't seem to find a decent pic of the whole right side of the Deere.

I do not want stuff in front of me. OK for light bars that you were driving off of, but not for anything else.

And I am going to catch Holy I-I ell for wires running all over. I suppose I should tidy them up. but I really don't care what you think.

Bottom picture:
And I found a picture of the stuff in the Deere 4630. And in spraying mode, maybe getting ready to spray mode.
The GPS display is not on the channel on the Deere, I did not understand Ram Mounts then. Maybe I will change it to a Ram Mount like the others, someday.

The spray controller is in place. To the right and out of the picture is the foam control.

Dallas Center IA 515-720-2463In my above post I made the statement that I did not want monitors and other stuff in front of me.

My first planter monitor was mounted off to the right. Right cab post area, down about bottom of the window area.
If planting at night I do not want those lights in front of me.

Later I went to the 1-1/4" channel iron between the right side cab posts. And mounted stuff on that channel.
Before getting the Deere 4630 and the White 2-135, I had that channel in both the 2-155 and 2-105.
Also there was one for the Oliver 2255 that I had in place only for incorp spraying.

My first two GPS displays were pretty much light bars only. And they were mounted in front, above the dash.
If looking at a light bar, I feel this is the place.

But the new displays you need to do more Button Pushing than before. And with auto-steer you do not need your eyes on them as much as before.
Mount them off to the side.

My 2-155 will soon be home from the shop after a five year rest due to the clutch being shot.
It will get a Ag Leader Edge display and OnTrac2 auto-steer. The Edge will be Ram Mounted off to the right side on that piece of 1-1/4" channel that has been in there several years.

Top picture:
In my 2-135 there is still a light bar, and it is right above the steering wheel. I still use set it up and look at it. See no reason to take it out.

Second picture: In the 4630 I have a light bar display mounted above the dash. This is running off of the Edge display off to the right, not in the pic.
Since the picture I have replaced the suction mount with a small Ram Mount. Also the cable is tidy-ed up against the door post to the left.

Central KansasNot the equipment you are using but in my 4650, had a tray across the console for the monitor, built a bar off of that for the planter control and the Velcro taped the row shut off control to the top of the drink holder(had replaced the ash tray set up with a "55" series ash tray/drink holder)

Macon, ILI did the same type setup in 4630/40/50. I like the GPS unit in front of steering wheel-everything else off 45 degrees to right.

I put planter fold/unfold controls/and row clutch clutches in rear right corner since they are rarely used going through field.

NW IowaI won't have any pics either until I get the tractor set up for spring, but I've got a JD 2630 monitor, compu-trak 250 planter monitor, smartbox controller, half width shut off box, and joystick for my sprayer in a 4640. The 2630 and 250 are mounted on the rail to the right of the steering wheel above the little swing door. I bought a bracket that fits there from local dealer and then attach the monitors to that. Everything else is attached to the bottom frame of the right window. I like keeping them lower if possible so it doesn't block my view out the windows. The most difficult part for me is getting all the cabling routed so it's not in the way. The greenstar harness has a lot of cabling it seems.

North west MNTry to use a monitor that capable of doing all you want. I use old agleader insights with autopilots for just about everything so there is not alot of clutter in the cab. The only extra box I have is a fold box. The insight does the hyd drive, row shut offs, seed monitoring and autopilot. When moving to the sprayer the same thing just hook up the implement connection and go makes it simple. I will have to update one year but for now the insight does all I need to do. So to keep the clutter down make sure the versa will do all you plan on doing if not get a integra. I have used insights in JD 4000's that are larger than a versa with a ram mount on the right side cab piliar towards the top.

North Central KansasBobby
I to have a White 2-155 as my main pulller
Questions.
1. power strip. Where did you find that? And apx cost? I have been running wires to the battery

2. apx how far down from the top of the window did you mount your cross bar?

On the ROPS iron on the left of your screen is where my brain box for auto steer is mount.
currently I have my planter monitor, and drill monitor mounted to 1/4" angle iron that is bolted to the window frame and all my wires ran along that area.

I finally....2 years later, got my HID lights wired independently of the main light switch. As you can see in the photos the toggle switches on the upper right. Front lights, above tires, and rear, all have their own switch. I put the cheap walmart lights on the front so when a car comes, I don't blind them.
I took 1/4" flat and made an area for my coffee cup and what not. I like the monitor up front so I can see how I am doing. I have tried to have that to the right, but it just feels weird.

Dallas Center IA 515-720-2463The bar is mounted about 6-8" from the top of the window. At first it was mounted lower, but I raised it to get the Edge mounted higher.
The present height is about as high as it can be and still have the SM-3000 Planter Monitor mounted above it.

The first picture is the Danny from my Ag Leader dealer installing the OnTrac2. I was supposed to have the Edge in place and all that. They came much sooner than I expected. The Edge was just stuck on the bar and the wiring ran thru windows to get it hooked up. I redid it last spring.

You can see how low the bar was mounted then.

The real reason for this pic is to show how I mounted the 1-1/4" channel to the cab posts. The ends are welded on at 90 degrees from the main bar.
And before you mount any bar - Drill a whole bunch of holes in it. You will be glad you did.

Second is with spray stuff installed. Not sure if this is the 2-135 or the 2-155. This is a low mounted position.

Third pic is where I put the the ECU for the OnTrac2. I did not like the lower right cab floor location that Danny put it. To hard to get to. Deere's lower front opening window is OK. I guess that is the ECU box for the OnTrac2+.

Power Strip: I did check at the Deere website. It looks like there are three Power Strips. I think for mounting in different model tractors. AL174215, RE68495 and AL158785 are the numbers. I would just say to your friendly John Deere parts person, "I want a Power Strip"

There are three wires. All the time Hot. Switched Hot. and Ground.
I go straight to the battery for the Hot.
And to the frame for Ground.
Both Hot and Switched are fused.

For the Switched power on the 2-135, I removed the front solenoid from the three on the right side of the engine, the manifold heater one. Replaced it with a Continuous Duty solenoid. A wire from the tractor switch fires up the solenoid.
A Ford 'On the fender' solenoid will not work! It has to be continuous duty.
This removes the switched power load from the tractor switch.

Cost when I got the last one about two years ago was I think $38-, could be wrong. Plug in deals are maybe $10- each, probably less.

The GPS is wired straight to the battery, per Ag Leader instructions. Everything else is thru the power strip.
The last three pics are the Power Strip and a plug in. There are plug in deals with Amp female ends, also power point [cig lighter end]
I hope the downloaded Deere pics post.

North Central Kansasahh, I was hoping that was a regular power strip like for cigarette lighters.
I will have to go to my parts guy and see what he can do.
I think I will look for some 1/4" angle and "copy" your idea.

thanks for posting the photos and what you did!

Liberty, MOBobby Grief, any concern about drilling in ROPS supports, Heater hoses, a/c hoses, wiring etc?
Running a 9150 and 9190 DA tractors, same basic cab as your Whites except big square front, more room maybe. Sorry NO pics, But I made a shelf to fit in the right front corner of cab fastened to window frame, have FM 2way radio on bottom of " shelf" planter monitor, planter fold switches, and fuse panel, on top of shelf ,planter point row switches on top of dash. Gotta move something as I' m adding a GPS screen. Maybe point row switches in right window above Cigar lighter. Thinking visibility might be the best this way, any comments from would be appreciated from the AG TALK community.
Thanks
After viewing some of your later post, beginning to see the light hopefully.

Dallas Center IA 515-720-2463I know you are not suppose to cut, drill, I suppose weld, etc: on a ROPS.

But I don't think a couple 3/8" holes will hurt.

And pretty sure the tractors I have drilled into the ROPS do not have any hoses, wiring inside them.

As I have said before, I am not fond of stuff above the dash, straight ahead front.

Another reason I mount off to the side - I cannot read the display the best that far away.
The display I can see great, it is the numbers and words that get me. I now carry my glasses in the cab just to work the displays.
Above is probably 'Old Man Idatise'

Real bad with the sunglasses. One real good reason for the sun screen deals I have on the Deere. I can work summertime without the sunglasses.

A set of them are going on the White 2-135 before summer. Side windows only.

Liberty, MOI was hoping the GPS screen might help stop the sun glare off of the ORANGE hood on the 9150. I have even thought about painting the top of the hood with FLAT black paint to help with the glare problem. I used Whites 2-85 and 2-105 to plant with for years and the Orange takes the cake, long wide and flat, and I wear prescription tri-focals dark glasses too.

North Central Kansassun screens on the white...
where do you find them?
That would be nice on my 2-155!

North Central KansasI tried google for power strips, automotive power strips, farm machinery power strips
nothing!
This can't be just a JD thing

Dallas Center IA 515-720-2463John Deere Power Strip

Dallas Center IA 515-720-2463I first saw then in the Rio Grande Valley, 1982. Really wanted some.
But I think they were a Deere SoundGard only deal.

And there has been several times I have considered driving down to Texas to see if I could buy a set.

A couple years ago I found some for sale in SW part of the Land of Sky Blue Waters.

I got one set - Two side and the rear. Plus two more sides.

Pretty sure I can fit them on the 2-135.

They do a lot to cool down a tractor on a hot day.

And contrary to what most people think - You can see out of them just fine.

They were a product of a Iowa company, Lundell.

My thanks to the NAT poster who sold them to me. Can't remember his name.

Wallis, TX

Sorry, no pics on this computer (mine broke borrowing the wife's) but our 4640 has its FMX mounted off the curved part on the right side between the upper and lower glass.  It comes back and to the left so the gear shift won't hit it and is a few inches in front of the throttle.

NESDLot of good setups. Not sure if I understand the RAM mount.

North west MN

http://www.shoupparts.com/product/search.aspx?st=ram%20mount

Most AgLeader and Trimble GPS monitors come with ram mounts 1.5" ball and socket helps put your monitor where you want it

SE MinnesotaI actually have the versa on a 4650 also. Just made a plywood shelf for the right side window between the shifter and dash and wrap it in nice brown boat carpet to match the interior :-). Just have to make sure that the shifter doesent contact the shelf before you permanently mount it (he he.. whoopsie) by the time you have the versa, planter monitor and all of the sprayer controls in the window, you cant hardly see out the window, but who needs to see anything with all of the electronics telling you what to do, right?

Mount tractor monitor

Tractor Monitor Mounting Tree

When Wes Suddarth needed to mount a Trimble EZ Guide 500 lightbar guidance system on his Deere 7520 tractor, there was no convenient place to mount the monitor. The problem was compounded when he tried to find a place to mount a Raven Sprayer Controller and also a foamer controller.
So the Lebanon, Tenn., farmer designed a patent pending mounting tree that easily holds 3 or more monitors in one location, and is easy to see and operate from the tractor seat. The monitor mounting tree bolts to the right front post of the cab on Deere 6000, 7000, and 8000 tractors. An adapter bracket can be used to fit other tractor models and makes.
To install, you simply drill holes on the cab post. The mounting tree comes with a convenient connector at the bottom that lets you bring power to the mounting tree from the tractor's battery. Then you can connect any monitor power cord directly to the mounting tree, without having to run a power cord all the way to the battery for each monitor you install.
The mounting tree, which comes with 2 shelves and the power connector, sells for $325 plus tax (where applicable) and S&H. Additional shelves sell for $45 apiece. The adaptor bracket sells for $25 plus S&H.
