Can I host a Minecraft server from an iPad/iPod?

Under normal conditions, you simply can't. You can't use the Desktop version of Minecraft on iPad because you can't run the Java files on iPad. A non-jailbroken iPad will never allow Java to run like that.

Some people are trying to get this to work with jailbroken iPads which can run java. It's still not working, and only an iPad 3 would yield remotely acceptable performance for a low-end server. I strongly recommend against trying unless you're doing this as a "because I can" project.

If you mean for Minecraft Pocket Edition, you can just play locally with other MPE players over Wifi. It's really easy, but it's not a "Minecraft Server" in the same sense and Desktop players won't be able to access your "server".

So far, a minecraft server has been utilized on an iPad 3, sporting the 1GB of RAM. The server boots up but the moment it gets to the portforward step, it fails. So far, nobody has been able to port forward on an iOS device. This progress was achieved on a jailbroken iPad 3, running the iFile, JavaVM, and Mobileterminal plugins available via Cydia.

On an ASUS Transformer android tablet however, a low level, vanilla minecraft server has been hosted and confirmed to work. Ports are forwarded, and local computers on the ASUS Transformer's internet connection can connect. The device is able to host the server in creative mode, with no mobs, and connect 2 people.

But to answer your question, Apple has made it so that this cannot be done. Well, not until we find out how to forward ports on a iOS device, such as the iPad 3.

Minecraft is now available for cross-play on any device

With the launch of Microsoft’s new Xbox One X gamers got an update on the latest Minecraft news — chiefly that Minecraft is now available across any device.

As part of the company’s big show at E3 Microsoft talked about the latest Minecraft update.

The“Better Together Update” unifies console, mobile and Windows 10 versions of the game.

The new update also features better graphics and cross-platform support to let Windows 10 and mobile Minecraft players play the game together.

As part of the update, Minecraft is ditching any special branding associated with Minecraft for Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, mobile games or VR — they’ll all just be known as “Minecraft”. There’s a ‘Minecraft: Java Edition’, which is the original PC game (still supported).

The unified branding is designed to let buyers know they’re all getting the same game, that they can play with anyone no matter what device they’re using, the company said.

Supported devices for unified game play include:

  • Windows 10
  • iOS
  • Android
  • XBox One
  • Nintendo’s Switch

If players own Minecraft for mobile or VR, they’ll get an update for the summer. Minecraft for Xbox One or Nintendo Switch owners will get a new update for free, and the existing worlds that gamers have created are going to be available on the new game.

The new update also means that any downloadable content will be available across all devices. So a pack bought on mobile will also be available on Xbox and Windows 10 editions too.

As an additional added perk, Minecraft is throwing in a server browser to its latest update. Launching with four servers, Lifeboat, Mineplex, InPVP and Cubecraft — which lets players join public servers that have monthly users numbering in the millions according to the company.

It’s different from Minecraft Realms, which are privately cloud-hosted servers available for smaller groups.

Finally, there’s a new graphics pack for 4K viewing — better lighting, shadows, and water effects, the company said.

How to install Minecraft JAVA on iOS for FREE (PojavLauncher) - Tutorial

Is it possible for Minecraft users on Mac (Java) to play with iOS (Bedrock) users? [duplicate]

My family is an Apple household (Macs and iOS devices), and we are getting into Minecraft. I've been trying in vain to find a definitive answer as to whether there are any options for letting family members use these separate devices to play on common servers or worlds.

It seems doubtful at this point, but I cannot find a trusted source that says, Yep, it's not possible in any way, so you can stop trying to find a solution.

The Minecraft website has a feature comparison, and both Mac and iOS are listed as sharing common features, namely "Realms," "player-hosted multiplayer servers," and "LAN or WiFi Multiplayer." The Minecraft page on the App Store for iPhone and iPad also advertises “Play with friends on mobile (and) PC...!” (See screenshots.)

I briefly thought that the "Realms" feature was our ticket, since the option was displayed prominently on the interfaces of both Mac and iOS. But when I had trouble getting them to work, I learned (on Arqade and elsewhere) that this common feature is actually restricted. Namely, users can only play with each other if they're running the same Minecraft edition, e.g. Java (on our Macs) or Bedrock/Pocket (on our iPad/iPhone).

I tried looking for Minecraft multiplayer server communities that host both platforms, but I've come up short.

I tried researching what it would take to host a home-based server, but I wasn't able to determine if it would be worth the effort.

We were able to get our iPad and iPhone to run multiplayer on our LAN/WiFi, but my Mac was unable to see this activity.

Are there ways to make these different Apple devices play nice with each other, or are we SOL?

If you can imagine it, you can create it—anything from monolithic towers to cavernous rollercoasters. That’s the idea that sparked a world-building phenomenon in Mojang’s amazing Minecraft. Since the game's release on the App Store, a steady stream of meaningful updates has kept this cube-filled universe fun, fresh and jam-packed with exciting features.

READ IF THINKING ABOUT BUYING

For everyone thinking of buying it, it’s worth it in my opinion. I play on my iPad 7th gen, and iPhone 5s (i’ve had it for a while, i know) and despite the fact that my phone is old, it works pretty well, but i’ve only played for a few minutes on my phone. On my iPad it works perfectly fine. The whole thing almost never lags, even with the natural mystic shaders. Now, other the performance it’s also amazing. The game itself is fun. At first it may seem weird to play if you’ve played minecraft java edition, but after a week or so you get used to it (i usually play 1-2 hours a day in total). I don’t know if you can change versions (I usually prefer 1.12.2 through 1.13.2 but it’s nice to play on newer versions). I’ve played minecraft for years now, but i’m sure the guides will help you, i’ve read some, but i don’t think people buy minecraft unless they know more about it. Multiplayer servers are fun, although parkour, death run stuff etc is kinda hard. Also, GET THE XBOX APP IF YOU HAVE A MICROSOFT ACCOUNT!!! It’s helpful with talking to friends, making friends- and other stuff, not all about friends. The whole thing is great and definitely worth the small amount of 7 dollars. You just need to know it’s not gonna be the same, some things will be harder to do. (Also install the app addons for mods, resource packs, shaders, worlds and probably more things i haven’t thought of if you wanna).

More pets🥺

I would love you could add more pets like turkeys tiggers and much more! I watch led shadow lady and she plays shadowcraft
And there’s a lot of pets,I’m scared of I download mods it will get viruses into my iPad pleas I hope you see this ❤️

How to Download and Play Minecraft java on iPhone without jailbreaking it?

Bedrock goes, otherwise no choice. Java version is not compatible with Android / IOS.

Not true, with Boardwalk you can play Minecraft Java on Android. The FPS are sometimes good and sometimes bad, depending on how much power the phone has.

He said, however, without jailbreaking, which I think you can't do without and anyway it wouldn't be very smart to jailbreak your cell phone because of a game, which then usually doesn't even go well. If you already have a cell phone that runs smoothly, you can get a PC for the price.

My answer was related to the statement that Minecraft Java is incompatible with Android, which is wrong.

1

Have you tried it I'm not even so sure whether it really works, have only seen a few videos, but they could also be posed and faked.

1

It's installed and working on my phone. The multiplayer was once.

Not without but with yes. There's a tweak called PojavLauncher.
